Betty Lou Edwards

Marion - Betty Lou (Bell) Edwards, 82, of Marion, passed away peacefully at 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Parkway Manor of Marion. Betty was born March 17, 1933 in Carbondale to David and Ruth (Hill) Bell. She married the late William Arden Edwards Sr. on December 23, 1950 in Carbondale. He preceded her in death on August 10, 2008. Betty is survived by her two sons, and daughter-in-law, William "Bill" Arden Edwards Jr. of Marion, and Michael Joe and Dana (Modglin) Edwards of Northfield, MN; cousins, Lucy (Sis) and Dick Carroll of Bradford, and Donald Unterfer of Indianapolis, IN; 11 grandchildren, Matthew, Jamie, Ryan, Renee, Risa, Katie, Billie Jo, Michael, Anne, Daniel and Will; and 10 great grandchildren, Davan, Madison, Seth, Bailee, Alexis, Riggin, Aailiah, Ethan, Emma and Eli. Betty was employed by General Telephone and Verizon as a Manager for 39 �_ years until her retirement, and ran an Antique store, B & A Collectables in Marion, for 15 years. She has been a resident of Marion since 1973, and is of Baptist Faith. She was a member of GTE Pioneers, Bloomington. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Meredith Funeral Home of Carbondale. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park of Murphysboro. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the funeral home.
