Bobby Dean Qualls

GRAND TOWER – Bobby Dean Qualls, 86, of Metropolis, formally of Grand Tower, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2020 at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, KY.



Bobby was born on January 31, 1934 to Howard and Mattie Francis (Steward) Qualls.



Bobby is survived by his daughters, Linda Cameron and husband Boyd of Metropolis and Kimberly Weekley and husband William of Murphysboro; sons-in-law, Terry Wright and James Chapman; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and his best friend Mattie.



He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Laura Qualls; daughters, Paula Chapman and Brenda Wright; grandsons, Brian Chapman and Jamie Wright; granddaughter, Stacy Morehead; and brother, Mickey Qualls.



Bobby worked on the river for over forty years. Retiring as River Boat Captain in 2003. He loved to spend his free time fishing.



Visitation will be 10AM on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Meredith Funeral Chapel in Grand Tower followed by the funeral at 12:00 PM with Rev. Charles Tate officiating. Burial will be in Walker Hill Cemetery, Grand Tower. Due to COVID-19 health concerns, the visitation and funeral will be limited to 50 people along with the requirements of masks and social distancing.



Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
