Carl E. Jones, 83, of Murphysboro, passed away at 7:10 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the Rehab & Care Center of Jackson County, Murphysboro. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale with visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 28, 2012. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale. Carl was born on September 10, 1928, in Reevesville, Illinois, to Harold Jones and Imogene (Robinson) Jones. They both precede him in death. He married Carmel Lee Brewer on June 21, 1947 in Boskydell, Illinois, and would have celebrated their 65th this year. He worked for Vogler's as an auto parts salesman, he was also a Co-Owner, with Troy Beggs, of Carbondale Auto Supply and he worked for 8 �_ years for the State of Illinois Menard Psych Center until he retired in 1986. Survivors include his wife, Carmel Lee of Murphysboro; Son, Terry (Priscilla) Jones of Murphysboro; Daughters, Charlotte (Jerry) Eccher of Venetia, PA, Carla (Rick) Cable of Dacula, GA.; Sister, Virginia Hopkins of Franklin, TN; Grandchildren, Michelle (Brad) Campbell, Brian (Tricia) Eccher, Christopher (Jennifer) Eccher, Sarah (Donnie) Adkinson and Crystal Graham; Great-grandchildren, Emilee and Dustin Campbell, Sarah and Colin Eccher, Sophia and Samuel Eccher and Lucas Adkinson. He was a member of the Union Hill Christian Church in Carbondale. Memorials may be made to Union Hill Christian Church in Carbondale, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
