Deborah 'Debbie' Jean Stephens

Deborah 'Debbie' Stephens, 57, of Carbondale, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2012, at her home. She was born in Carbondale on September 28, 1954 to George R. and Phyllis J. (Keith) Patterson. She married Calvin A. 'C.A.' Stephens on June 23, 1989 in Murphysboro. He passed away on February 28, 2006. She is also preceded in death by her father and her grandparents, Velma and Arthur Keith of Washington, Ind. Debbie is survived by her mother, Phyllis Patterson of Carbondale; second cousins, Jake and Carolyn Rendleman of Carterville; close friends, Karen and Steve Boyd, of Washington, Ind., Doug Hickman of Carbondale, and John and Mary Schumacher of Murphysboro, who were her caretakers. She was a member for the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, January 16, 2012, at the Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale, with Rev. Alan Rhein officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to service time on Monday. Interment will be at Bethany Cemetery, Washington, Ind. 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2012. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Carbondale and will be accepted by the funeral home.
