Donna M. Speith

Carbondale - Donna Mae Speith, 70, passed away at 4:35 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at her home. Donna was born January 11, 1944 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Ross John and Dorothy Sophie (Hartmann) Luehr. She married John R. Speith on August 18, 1963 in Campbell Hill. He survives and is of Carbondale. Other survivors include, her son, Jeffrey John (Stacie) Speith of Carbondale; a daughter, Jill Renee (Randall) Fox of Dayton, Ohio; one sister, Karen Tylka of Imperial, Missouri; and five grandchildren, Caroline and Bennett Speith of Carbondale, and Garrett, Connor and Riley Fox of Dayton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents. Donna enjoyed her five grandchildren immensely. She loved to travel and play tennis as much as she could. She worked as an Accountant for Southern Illinois University in Carbondale until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale, and a former officer and member of the Business Professional Women's Foundation. Per Donna's wishes, she was cremated. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 7:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale with Reverend Alan Rhein officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Carbondale Women's Center, and will be accepted by Meredith Funeral Home of Carbondale.
