Evelyn Berniece Wright

August 14, 1940 — December 6, 2020

HERRIN - On the morning of December 6th, 2020, Evelyn Berniece Wright wrenched free from the bed holding captive her tired bones and danced into the arms of her late husband Bill once again.

The years since Bill's passing melted away and Evelyn found herself once again being cherished by the man who held her heart and hand for over 30 years of marriage.

Strolling through the pearly gates, Evelyn was embraced by her late mother Bertha Hartsock, and taking her hand she lead Evelyn through their heavenly home, an exact replica of her childhood home in Boskydell.

Evelyn found herself surrounded with love and warm memories of growing up with a house full of siblings holding constant vigil over her, with a mother who worked hard to raise them in God's image.

Evelyn herself was no stranger to hard work, but she found joy in her time spent helping people for several years at Carbondale IGA.

Her first day in heaven was filled with joy and smiles as she played Bingo with her daughter Patsy, reunited once again. And met her Jesus, whom she had loved all her life.

Her children Bill Wright Jr., Sara Wright, Cindy Wright, and Rory Wright already miss her sharp humor and loving embrace. But they take comfort in knowing her body no longer holds her prisoner and she waits for them and watches over her 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Her surviving siblings Paul Lipe, Jim Lipe, Kenny Lipe, Toni Ferrell, and Barbara Benz find joy in knowing that after years of silence, Evelyn has found her voice once again and sings amongst the angels.

These hands are the hands of a Woman, these hands are calloused and old, these hands raised a family, these hands built a home, now these hands are raised to Praise the Lord.

Evelyn Wright, 80, born August 14, 1940, passed away December 6, 2020 at 7:58 a.m. at Herrin Hospital from complications of Dementia; Covid and Pneumonia.
