De Soto - Florence Brooks, 67, passed away at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Florence was born March 31, 1948 in Berkeley, MO to Harold and Greta (Bruner) Pressy. She married Wayne Brooks on October 5, 1986 in Carbondale. He survives and is of De Soto. Florence worked as a waitress at the Carbondale Denny's for many years. She was a member of Antioch Church of Colp, the American Legion Unit 106 of McLeansboro and a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary # 2699 of McLeansboro. She loved to fish, camp and be in the outdoors and was an awesome homemaker. Florence is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, LaVonna and Matt Sedlack of Kenosha, WI; her step-sons, Robert Brooks of Carbondale, William Brooks of Tampa, FL, and Bryan Keith of Colp; five brothers, Frank Rost of Dahlgren, Lawrence Pressy of Ocala, FL, Paul Pressy of East Millsboro, PA, Merlin Pressy of Duncan, OK, and James Pressy of Dale; two grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren. Florence is proceeded in death by her parents, one step-son, and one sister. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Meredith Funeral Home of Carbondale with Pastor Eugene Sloan officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, May, 2, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Lungevity Foundation, 228 S. Washburn Ave, Suite 700, Chicago, IL 60604 and will be accepted at the funeral home.
