Frances Leota "Frankie" Howell

CARBONDALE - Frances Leota (Frankie) Howell, 77, of Cobden, passed away at 6:05 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2012 surrounded by her family at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Carbondale. She was born on January 17, 1935 to Hiram Eston Reeves and Frances Helen (Parks) in Carbondale. Frankie married Richard Dean Howell on June 19, 1952 in Carbondale. He survives. Other survivors include two sons Clifton Howell and his significant other Tammy Morris of Cobden and Thomas and his wife, Karen Howell of Murphysboro; two daughters Susan and her husband Jeff Mason of DuQuoin, Lisa and her husband Mark Jones of Carbondale; one brother Roy Reeves of Desert Hot Springs, CA; eleven grandchildren, Anthony and his wife Diana, Christopher, Richard, Margaret, S. Kain, Kelly, and Jesse Howell, Jeffrey and his fianc�� Tracie and Theresa Mason, Rebecca and her husband David Burnam, and Stephanie Jones; seven great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Mitchell, Matthew, Brooke, Alayna Sue, Brayden and Jewel; former daughter-in-law Kim Howell of Cobden; many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Roscoe Reeves; two sisters, Anna Mae Naegele and Essie Raines; and her son, Steven L Howell on June 22, 2004. Frankie was a member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale and S.I. Unit of Airstream Association, #039 for 31 years. She also ran her own daycare "Frankies Day Care" out of her home for 25 years until she retired in 1986. She touched the lives and hearts of many families and children. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Robert Flannery officiating. Friends may call at the Meredith Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. til 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012. Interment will be held after church services, at Murdale Gardens of Memory in Murphysboro. Memorials may be made to Parkinsons or TIP Hospice. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home. Frankie enjoyed the love of her family, traveling, camping and gardening. She was an exceptional artist, especially with painting and drawing.
