CARBONDALE - Frank Gordon Tebow Jr, 79, of Carbondale, formerly of Metropolis, passed away at 4:29 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born December 29, 1935 to Frank and Jenny (Van Koevering) Tebow in Burlington, WI. He married the love of his life, Susie O. L. Grammer on March 22, 1958 in Carbondale. Together they shared 57 years of marriage. Frank is survived by his wife, Susie Tebow of Carbondale; three daughters, Stephannie Tebow of Beijing, China, Mary Beth Tebow (Brent) Reese of West Frankfort, Simone (Eric) Koester of Elkhorn, WI; two sisters, Helen Louise Stout of TN, and Mary Ruth (Alfred) DePietro of TX; four grandchildren, Brooke Walters, Rachel Tebow (Jake) Sieminski, Scott E. Walters and Joshua Tebow; four great grandchildren, Ian Miller, Hayden Hopkins, Lilly Tebow and Eleanor Sieminski; brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Joan Grammer; and seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Frank G Tebow III, grandson, Frank G Tebow IV. Frank proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1957 - 1963 in Germany. He was a member of the Murdale Baptist Church of Carbondale; Jackson County Republican; IL Federation of Republican Women; American Legion; founding member of the Traveler's Quartet; a former member of the U.S. Army Glee Club; and served as Jackson County Treasurer in the early 1970's. Frank was the Music director for several church's including, Walnut Street Baptist, Murdale Baptist, Harrison Baptist, 2nd Baptist of Herrin, Lantana Baptist and 2nd Baptist of Marion Church. He also served as a music evangelist for numerous revivals throughout the Southern Illinois Region. Gospel Sing and Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Murdale Baptist Church, in Carbondale, with Reverend Paul Hicks officiating. Interment with Military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #306 and the Illinois Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors will be held at Metropolis Memorial Gardens in Metropolis. Visitation will be held at Murdale Baptist Church from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, and 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Murdale Baptist Church, Walnut Street Baptist Church or the Carbondale Senior Citizens Meal Site and will be accepted by Meredith Funeral Home of Carbondale.
