Inez Hankla, 100 years, 8 months, and 10 days, of Pinckneyville, formerly of DeSoto, passed away at 8:26 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012, in the Pinckneyville Health Care Center, Pinckneyville. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2012 at the Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale, with Rev. Charles Smith, pastor of the Roe's Dale Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be next to her husband in DeSoto Cemetery, DeSoto. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to service time on Monday, October 8, 2012 at the funeral home. Inez was born on January 24, 1912, at Clay, Kentucky to Louis and Lola (Crews) Puckett. She married Hiram U. Hankla on December 20, 1934 in Murphysboro. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1984. She is also preceded by her parents, five brothers and two infant sisters. She was a member of the Roe's Dale Baptist Church, Pinckneyville and a homemaker. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Jeanette Hankla of Pinckneyville; a daughter, Patsy Crow, of Marion; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
