James Paul Miles

ANNA – James “Jim” Paul Miles, 77, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.



Jim was born on August 22, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. He married Dorothy “Dottie” Mae Wilson on June 10, 1989 in Anna. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2018.



James is survived by his nieces, Luanne Burdick and husband Michael of Grand Tower and Carla Carroll and husband Chris of Du Quoin; great nieces and nephews, Sarah and Shane Burdick and Della and Christopher Carroll; and brother-in-law, Carl Wilson.



He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.



Jim received his Master’s Degree at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He worked as a History Professor at Shawnee Community College for many years. He also taught horticulture classes at Vienna Correctional Center. Jim was very involved in the Anna – Jonesboro Elks Lodge where he served on the board of directors and as chaplain. Jim was an avid Civil War buff and loved watching St. Louis Cardinals games.



A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the Anna-Jonesboro Elks Lodge.



Memorials may be made to the Anna-Jonesboro Elks Lodge.
