Johnny L. Baltzell

GRAND TOWER - Johnny Lee Baltzell, 57, of Grand Tower, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at St. Louis University Hospital.



Johnny was born on June 19, 1962 to William “Billy” and Fronie (Riegger) Baltzell in Carbondale. He married Laura Brooks on January 23, 1998 in Newton.



Johnny is survived by his wife, Laura; children, Brock Baltzell, Cassandra Baltzell, Adam (Emily Maes) Hudson and Brooke (Matt Baber) Hudson; grandchildren, Kyler, Alyvia, Gio, Rizio, and Caleb; mother, Fronie Baltzell; brothers, Dick (Suzanne) Baltzell and Larry Dean (Mary Beth) Baltzell, Sr.; sisters, Priscilla “Doodle” Russell, Clara “Lady” Gale, Terrie (John) Schaefer, and Tina Baltzell; and sister-in-laws, Tammy (Darrell) Chandler and Beverly (Bruce) Alms.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father Billy Baltzell; and nieces, Billi Wills and Christy Gale.



Johnny worked as a truck driver for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved hanging out with friends and family all while cooking some good meat, listening to music and having a cold one.



Visitation for Johnny will be Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 12:00 – 2:00pm at First Baptist Church of Grand Tower with the funeral following at 2:00 pm.
