Juanita Calhoun

De Soto - Juanita Calhoun, 87, of De Soto passed away 1:40 a.m., Sunday, October 18, 2015, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. She was born on January 26, 1928, to Ray and Ora Elizabeth (Hill) Bonds. On June 28, 1942, she married Carl "Shorty" S. Calhoun in Cape Girardeau, MO. He passed away on April 11, 2008. Also preceding her in death were two daughters, two grandsons, one sister, and one brother. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Carl R. and Jeannine Calhoun of Elkville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda Lindsey, of De Soto and Wanda and Larry Woods of Pittsburg; her deceased daughter's best friend, Gary Pollock of Carbondale; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Donald Bonds of Carbondale. She was a homemaker and loved her entire family. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale, with Pastor Danny Norman officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Carbondale. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Jubilee Tabernacle in De Soto and will be accepted at the funeral home.
