Kellie Sue Hokkanen

February 8, 1973 — November 13, 2015

Lake in the Hills - Kellie Sue (Camp) Hokkanen, 42, passed away at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin on Friday, November 13, 2015. Kellie was born February 8, 1973 in Murphysboro, to Larry and Peggy (Nimmo) Camp. She married Brad R. Hokkanen on July 30, 1994 in Grand Tower. Together they lovingly celebrated 21 years of marriage. Kellie's memories will be carried on by her husband, Brad Hokkanen, of Lake in the Hills; son, Austin Hokkanen of Lake in the Hills; two brothers, Joel Camp and Philip (Danna Summers) Camp, all of Grand Tower; her mother, Peggy Camp of Grand Tower; grandmother, Irene "Tunnie" Nimmo of Grand Tower; nephews, Dusty, Cody, Jonathon, Brandon, Jesse, Brayden and Carson; niece, Nikki; grandniece, Riley; and several aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Maude and Elmer Camp, maternal grandfather, Frank Nimmo, and her father, Larry Camp. Kellie was a family girl and made sure she kept in touch with all of her family. She was country through and through, and her accent gave her away. Kellie loved to garden, watching things grow brought her great joy. She took pride in her Avon business beginning in California and continuing in Illinois. She was a giver, always thinking of others before herself. Her big heart is why she is loved so much. She and her mother shared a favorite song, which they would sing together, "As long as there is love we will stand." There is a big vacancy in the lives of all who love her and she will greatly be missed. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at the Lighthouse Assembly Church, Grand Tower, with a visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be held at Walker Hill Cemetery, Grand Tower. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made for her son, Austin, % Brad Hokkanen, and will be accepted by Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale.
