CARBONDALE – Kenneth “Kenny” McReynolds, 83, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Manor Court of Carbondale.



Kenny was born on November 28, 1937 to James and Pauline (Roll) McReynolds in Johnston City, Illinois. He married “Arti” Arthella Glenda Wingerter (Nannie) on November 20, 2009 at Murphysboro, Illinois.



Kenny is survived by his wife “Arti” Arthella, sons, Scott (Pam) McReynolds of Loudon, Tennessee and Timothy (Mel) McReynolds of Anna, Illinois; step-sons, Chris Howard of Marion, Illinois, Kevin Baird of Carbondale, Illinois, and Curtis Baird of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; daughter Kim Whitehead of Harrisburg, Illinois; Step-daughter Carol Anne Howard-Veber; brother James (Jean Ann) McReynolds of Johnston City, Illinois; sisters Shiela McReynolds Lawrence of Marion, Illinois, and Paula (Daryl) McReynolds Stucker of Energy, Illinois; 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.



Kenny met his wife, “Arti” Arthella, when she played the saxophone with a country band. He asked her to dance with him, then to marry him. It was like the song titled, “Can I Have This Dance for the Rest of My Life.” He was a devoted member of the Abundant Life Assembly of God church in Marion, Illinois.



A scattering of ashes on the Ohio River is planned for a future date yet to be determined.
