Larry E. Camp, 66, of Grand Tower, went to be with the Lord at 12:55 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Barnes Jewish Christian Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Larry was born in Grand Tower on November 30, 1945 to Elmer and Maude (Cripps) Camp. They preceded him in death along with two brothers. On May 1, 1968, he married Peggy M. Nimmo in Grand Tower. She survives him along with a daughter and son-in-law, Kellie and Brad Hokkanen from Lake in the Hills; two sons and daughters-in-law; Joel and Deana Camp and Philip and Danna Camp all from Grand Tower; seven grandchildren, Cody, Dusty, Nikki, Jonathon, Brandon, Austin, and Jessie; a great granddaughter Riley; four sisters and three brothers-in-law; Georgia and Curt Brown of Murphysboro, Ruthie and Wayne Verble of Harford, KY, Sharon and Paul Roberts of Carterville, and Pamela Sherman of Port Jefferson Station, NY and many loving nieces and nephews. Larry retired from the Grand Tower CIPS power plant as a turbine operator in 2000 and Local 148 International Union of Operating Engineers. He was a member of the Lighthouse Christian Assembly, and the proud owner of Papa's Place which specialized in fish dinners and sandwiches. He was an avid fisherman and an outstanding Cardinals fan and had received a letter from the Cardinals organization signed by the players in recognition of being such a loyal fan. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Lighthouse Christian Assembly with Pastor Cynthia Freeland of Johnston City officiating. Interment will be in Walker Hill Cemetery, in Grand Tower with military services. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Lighthouse Christian Assembly. Memorials to the family are the preferred form of remembrance.
