Metropolis - Laura J. Qualls, 64, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. Laura was born March 7, 1950 in Belleville, to Robert Harold and Charlotte Louise (Erwin) Pearson. She married Bobby D. Qualls on October 1, 1995 in Kentucky. He survives and is of Metropolis. Other survivors include, son, John Bramlett of Goodfield; daughter, Tabatha Bramlett of Anna; two brothers, Larry (Brenda) Pearson of Mt Vernon, and Louis Pearson of Herrin; sister, Patsy (Les) Hartline of Mission, TX; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; close cousin, Darlene Hoepfinger of Caseyville; very special aunt, Virginia Erwin; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Bramlett, two sisters, Linda Randolph, Levada Simson, and her parents. Laura worked as an RN for Wexford Healthcare at Tamms Correctional Center for 10 years until her retirement in January 2013. She was a member of the Illinois Nursing Association and of Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at Noon on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Grand Tower Chapel, Grand Tower, with Rev. Charles Tate officiating. Burial will be at Walker Hill Cemetery in Grand Tower. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday at the chapel. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the Grand Tower Chapel.
