Margaret Marie King

Carbondale - Margaret Marie King, 92, of McGregor, TX, formerly of Carbondale, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Providence Hospital in Waco, TX. Margaret was born on January 2, 1923 in Pomona to Rudolph E. and Kate (Nance) Lipe. She married James Edward King on February 3, 1951 in Murphysboro. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2008. Margaret was a fine and lovely Christian lady, and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a former member of the Lantana Baptist Church in Carbondale, and worked at the Glove factory in Carbondale and in the Overall factory in Murphysboro, and in the daycare at Lantana Church in Carbondale. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Harriet (Tuthill) and Dr. Doug Horner of McGregor, TX; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmie Ray and Susan King of Cobden, and Rev. Jerry and Joetta King of Carbondale; 6 grandchildren and their spouses, Dr. Keith and Bridgitt Horner of Woodway, TX, Drs. Robert and Patricia Horner Wilcox of Waco, TX, Christina King Poirier of Carbondale, James Ryan and Angie King of Murphysboro, Jaryn Lee King of Carbondale, and Jeff and Jessica Wagley of Johnston City; 13 great-grandchildren, Madison and Christopher Horner, Brittany, Matthew and Meredith Wilcox, Gunnar Groves, Margaret "Marlea" and Benson Nash Poirier, Isaiah, Anna and Sophia Wagley, Garron and Estrella Renoso King; and two sisters, Norma Stevens and Barbara Adams both of Carbondale. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband and five brothers. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale, with Rev. Paul Hicks officiating. Interment will be at Tripp Memorial Cemetery in Carbondale next to her dearly departed husband Ed. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Dutch Ridge Baptist Church, Limestone Baptist Church or Murdale Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
