Mary Lou Morris Norrington

CARBONDALE - Mary Lou Morris Norrington, 63, of Carbondale, passed away at 1:04 p.m. on Nov. 28, 2018 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.



Mary Lou was born on August 1, 1955, in Carbondale to Samuel and Marjorie (Nesler) Morris. She graduated from Carbondale Community High School in 1973, and earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from SIU in 1978. She taught pre-k at Zeigler/Royalton for the last twenty-eight years of her thirty-five plus year career as an educator. Miss Mary Lou dearly loved her pre-k kids and parents and she loved her many school colleagues, especially Gina McCann, her team teacher and friend.



She was preceded in death by her parents.



Mary Lou leaves behind her husband, Michael P. Norrington; sons, Michael Steinbach (Milica) of Carbondale and Brian Steinbach (Simone) of Lawrence, KS; sisters, Jane Hanne (Rich) of Murphysboro and identical twin sister Linda Carney (David) of Waldorf, MD; step-daughter, Tamara Norrington-Evey (Scott) of Millstadt, IL.; step-sons, Michael T. Norrington (Dannyel) of Carterville and Christopher Norrington (Karissa) of Waleska, GA; her beloved grandchildren, Olivia and Paul Norrington of Carterville, IL and Teddy and Harper Norrington of Waleska, GA; her uncle Daniel Nesler of Murphysboro, and several cousins, nephews, and nieces. Mary Lou was loved by all who met her including friends from her teaching career, sorority sisters, Bunco Babes, Pinch Penny Group, neighbors and many more.



Funeral services will be on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale, with Father David Szatkowski (Mary Lou’s cousin) officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Carbondale. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 2 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.



Memorials may be made to SIH Foundation Coach Kill Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
