Mattie L. Murry, 88, of Herrin, formerly of Carbondale, passed away 12:00 p.m., Sunday, July 20, 2014, at the Herrin Hospital. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the De Soto Cemetery, De Soto, with Reverend John Annable officiating. Friends are requested to go directly to the cemetery. Mattie was born at Thomastown, Mississippi to Robert Radford and Annie Omalia (Burgess) Johnson. On July 26, 1944, she married Robert L. Murry. He preceded her in death on July, 29, 2008. She is also preceded in death by her parents, one son, one daughter two sisters, and three brothers. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Perry and Marilyn Murry of De Soto; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Jim Dycus of Greenville Mississippi; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Mattie was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Crossett, Arkansas. She and her husband owned and operated Murry's Cleaner's in Crossett, Arkansas until their retirement in 1984. During that time she was known as Miss Mattie and had been a checker, office personnel, and seamstress.
