MURPHYSBORO - Peggy A. Brasel, 82, of Murphysboro passed away on Sunday, May 26 2019 at her residence.



She was born on December 16, 1936 in Carbondale to Madge (Elkins) Hale and Henry Hale, Sr. She married James A. Brasel Sr. in Carbondale on May 25, 1957.



Peggy was the office manager at Cox Trucking in Murphysboro for over 20 years until her retirement August 31, 1999.



Peggy is survived by her husband James Brasel Sr.; three sons, Robert "Butch" (Cheryl) Brasel, James "Jay" Brasel Jr. both of Murphysboro and Christopher "Rusty" (Becky) Brasel of Ava; five grandchildren, Charlie (Ashley) Brasel of Centralia, Brittany Brasel of Murphysboro, Jennifer (Daniel) Tow of Elkville, Dylan Brasel and Mikayla Brasel both of Ava; three great-grandchildren, Aidan Brasel of Centralia, Macey Tow and Jackson Tow both of Elkville; four sisters, Betty Stearns of Alto Pass, Dorothy Clark, Patricia Eads and Carla Young, all of Carbondale and one brother, Larry Hale of Cobden.



She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Chester Hale, Lester Hale, Edward Hale, Victor Hale, Bobby Joe Hale and Henry Hale Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Barnett and Shirley Murray-Clark.



Funeral services for Peggy will be 1 PM, Thursday, May 30, at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale. Burial will follow in Murdale Gardens of Memory, Murphysboro. Visitation will be 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 29, at the funeral home.
