Richard Johnson

CARBONDALE – Richard Johnson, 76, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Richard was born on January 4, 1947 to William L. and Dora D. (Meredith) Johnson in Centralia.

Richard is survived by his cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Richard served in the U.S. Army from 1966 until 1972 while achieving the rank of SP5 E-5 (T). He served in Vietnam, and was an Honor Graduate from the U.S. Army Southeastern Signal School where he later became an instructor.

After his service, he graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with a Bachelor’s Degree. He was later employed by SIU in the Music Department.

A private graveside service will take place at Murdale Gardens of Memory.
