Rosalind Joyce Hawk

MAKANDA--Rosalind "Rose" J. (Williams) Hawk, passed away at 8:10 p.m., at her home, August 24, 2012, surrounded by family. Rose was born on July 7, 1919 to L.L and Grace (Gregg) Williams. They precede her in death as well as her sister, Roxanne Ellner and her brother, Harry Williams. She was married to Donald V. Hawk on January 29, 1938. He preceded her in death in April of 2005. Rose is survived by her sister, Reba Turner; her son, Donald Hawk and wife, Mary; her son, Gary Hawk and wife, Carol; her daughter, Karen Fine and husband, Larry; her grandson, Todd Hawk and wife, Kimberly; her step-grandson, Matt Fine; her great granddaughters, Gabrielle and Ashton Hawk; and her great grandson, Jacob Hawk. Rose retired from the Post Office in Makanda, Illinois. She liked music and playing the harmonica. The funeral will be held Monday, August 27, 2012 at 1pm at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Pastor Todd Hawk, her grandson, officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 11am to 1pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Makanda, Illinois. Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Meredith Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
