Stafford James Part

CARBONDALE – Stafford James Part, 61, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family.



Stafford was born on August 30, 1958 to Stafford and Evelyn (St. Blanc) Part in Murfreesboro, TN. He married Marcella Kay Morrison on May 7, 1983 at Slidell, LA.



Stafford is survived by his loving wife, Marcella Part of Carbondale; children, Jesse Part and wife Allyssa of Cambria, Justin Part and wife Shaina of Carbondale and Jamie Part of Collinsville; grandchildren, Oliver, Adalynn and Connor Part; two brothers; five sisters; and several nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jason Part; grandchild, Spencer Part; and brother, Kenneth Part.



Stafford was known as a master woodworker throughout Southern Illinois. He enjoyed gardening, football season, fishing, mushroom hunting, bird watching but most of all being a family man. Stafford was of the Catholic Faith.



Visitation will be from 12 – 1 PM on Monday, August 24, 2020 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale. Funeral services will be 1 PM on Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. K. Stephen Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Boskydell Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 health concerns, the visitation and funeral will be limited to 50 people along with the requirements of masks and social distancing. Memorials may be made to the SIH Foundation - Cancer Institute or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
