Sue E Forby

MAKANDA – Sue E. Forby, 89, of Makanda went home to be with her Lord, Tuesday night, November 19, 2019 at Sunshine Gardens Assisted Living in Marion.



Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 23, 2019 at SICC Youth Camp in Makanda located at 295 Youth Road, Makanda with Jason Forby officiating. Burial will be in Boskydell Cemetery, Carbondale. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 22, 2019 at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale.



Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to the Southern Illinois Christian Conference Youth Camp % Donna Stearns, 5032 Old US Highway 51, Makanda, IL 62958 and will be accepted by the funeral home.



Sue was born October 17, 1930 in Carbondale to Everett and Katharine (Wintersteen) Robinson. She married Donald Ray Forby on June 11, 1949 in Makanda. He preceded her in death on July 25, 2006.



Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Ray and Anne Forby of Makanda; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna Kay and Tom L. Stearns of Makanda; five grandchildren, Brian (Susan) Stearns, Clint (Shelly) Stearns, Heather (Andy) Greer, Jason (Rachel) Forby, and Jaime Kline; twelve great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.



She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Warren Robinson; a great great grandson, Finn Hickam; and daughter-in-law, Kim Forby.



Sue was a member of Union Hill Christian Church, Carbondale and Southern Range Cowboy Church, Goreville. She retired from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Sue devoted her life to camp ministry, fox hunting with Donald Ray, the church and of course ALL her grandchildren.
