Tyler John Glidewell

Grand Tower – Tyler John Glidewell, 24, of Grand Tower passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at home.



Tyler was born on December 21, 1991 to Timothy and Dawn (Hughes) Glidewell. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 2010. He worked as 2nd mate for Artco on the Mississippi River for several years. Tyler was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. He loved to hang out with his friends and was known for his great ability to play pranks on everyone. He was a loving son and brother and will be missed by all.



Tyler is survived by his mother, Dawn (Jimmy Baltzell) Glidewell of Grand Tower; father, Timothy (Leslie) Glidewell of Anna; brother, Trevor Glidewell of Anna; step-brother, Tyler (Danyell) Spurlock of Jonesboro; step-sister, Jessica (Will) Watson of Anna; maternal grandfather, Willis Hughes of Grand Tower; paternal grandmother, Melba Glidewell of Murphysboro; uncles and aunts, Ronnie (Donna) Glidewell of Cape Girardeau, Charlie (Lori) Glidewell of Carbondale, Gary (Christie) Glidewell of Goreville, Susie (Bill) Kilquest of Carbondale, Rhonda (Charlie) Roberston of Murphysboro; Christy Meade of Chester, Janie (Gary) Gierger of St. Charles, MO, Rick (Pam) Glidewell of Wentzville, MO, Kathy Glidewell of Herrin, John (Angie) Hand of Jonesboro, Shannon (Tonia) Hughes of Grand Tower; a niece, Ragan Spurlock; and many cousins.



He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Donna Hughes; paternal grandfather, Charles Glidewell; and uncle, John Glidewell.



Services for Tyler will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7 at Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake with Bob Henson officiating. Burial will follow in Goodbread Cemetery in Gorham. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the school on Friday.



Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and can be made to Goodbread Cemetery and will be accepted at the school.
