Wilma Imogene Futrell

MARION – Wilma Imogene Futrell, 90, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Imogene was born on April 30, 1932 to Joe and Pearl (Gurley) Fite in Williamson County, Illinois. She married Charles “Tom” Futrell on July 1, 1950, and he preceded her in death on July 13, 2005.

Imogene is survived by her children, Thomas (Diane) Futrell of Carterville, Marlene (John) Carson of Clinton, Alice Stearns of Murphysboro, and Becky (Everett) Rodgers of Pittsburg; grandchildren Chris (Brandi) Futrell, Cassie (Ben) Puckett, Bethany (Victor) Vides, Johnny (Jennifer) Carson, Jeni Carson, Joshua (Rachel) Carson, Jacki Stearns, Scott (Jennifer) Rodgers, and Matt Rodgers; 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Tommy, daughter Sherry Ann Futrell, grandson Eric Spurgeon, and brothers William Lee Fite, Marion Leo (Slatts) Fite, and Harold Anson Fite.

Imogene’s greatest loves were God and her family; she was an avid golfer who had multiple hole-in-ones. She loved playing the piano and organ, and played for the church for 30 years. She was a dedicated wife, and supported Tommy during his lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Meredith Funeral Home with Rev. Joshua Carson officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Monroe Apostolic Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
