Brenda Kay Woods

Brenda was born on November 27, 1950 in Carbondale, IL to Harold Riggs and Clara Riggs. Brenda married Joe Woods on May 30, 1969 in Carbondale.

Brenda is survived by her two daughters Kathy Jo 'Kat' (C.J) Powell-Watts of Colorado and April Lee Vaughn of Cambria; grandchildren Josh Trammel, Kloey Powell, Claire Woods, Gavyn Powell, Victoria Vaughn, James Vaughn, Zachary Watts, Logan Watts, and Raegan Watts; and her great-grandson Jackson Trammel.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Joe Woods.

Brenda was a dedicated wife, who loved her husband and soul mate since she was young. She enjoyed spending their younger years camping and traveling. Cabin trips together held fond memories for everyone.

Brenda loved crafting and spending time with her dog, Lilly. She was an avid fan of women's basketball, and often supported the Carbondale Terriers and Southern Illinois Salukis, always cherishing those memories.

Services for Brenda are pending.

The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to Hospice of Southern Illinois for all their support during Brenda's final days.
