Charlotte Anne Strawn

CARBONDALE - Charlotte “Anne” Strawn went home peacefully to be with her savior on October 21, 2025. Anne was born on September 9, 1942, in Carbondale, Illinois where she was raised. She was the beloved daughter of Frank Owen Sr. and Naomi Owen.

Anne married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Strawn, on October 8, 1973, and they spent fifty-two years of married life together doing the things they loved. She raised horses, went to concerts, and lived the life she enjoyed living. She worked as bank auditor for Wells Fargo Bank in Durango, Colorado where she began raising Arabian Horses as a hobby she shared with her husband, Dick.

Anne was an artist whose perspective on life was notably distinctive. She saw things that no one else would notice, putting on canvas the way she characteristically saw things. She was very proud of her work and enjoyed all the people in her art group. She talked constantly about anything anyone else wanted to talk about, she chose to be who people needed. Anne was spontaneous, she would have people laughing with her no-filter personality. She believed in her spiritual self.

Anne is survived by her sister Bonnie Wright and husband Mike Wright. Her brother Frank Owen and children Chistina Owen and Frankie Owen the third. Her children, Cathy Runyan and grandchildren Krista Barnes, Mike Barnes and Charlotte Barnes. Her daughter Colleen Akiko and son Mark Strawn. Anne was proceeded in death by her parents, Frank and Naomi Owen, and by her daughter Jennifer Lynn Robinson Perry. I can only imagine the incredible conversations occurring right now.

Anne’s family would like to thank the doctors and the nurses who cared for her and kept her comfortable from her diagnosis to her last breath.

A Memorial Service for Anne will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale. Visitation will be from 11:00am until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
