Cheryl Ann Mayer

CARBONDALE –Cheryl Ann Mayer, 66, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Cheryl was born on July 13, 1959 to Raymond Leslie and Wanda Lou (Steele) Herd in Murphysboro. She married Dallas Mayer on October 18, 1991 in Carbondale.

Cheryl is survived by her husband Dallas, daughter Jennifer Zeiba, son Levi Mayer, grandchildren Dusty Young, Oakley Mayer, Oliver Mayer, Opal Mayer, great grandchildren Maci Harmon and McCoy Young\ and sisters Leah Ralph and Karen Robinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Ronnie Hawk.

Cheryl worked as an office manager for Stiles Office Solutions. She spent her years enjoying gardening, farming, crocheting and working at motorcycle races. She was a life member of the American Motorcyclist Association. Most importantly, Cheryl loved her family and faith. She was a beloved member of Vine Church in Carbondale.

Funeral service will take place at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Pastor Noble Staley officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the American Motorcyclist Association in Cheryl’s memory.
