Daniel Ray Francis

November 26, 1955 — March 29, 2024

Makanda

Daniel Ray Francis passed away on March 29, 2024, in Makanda, Illinois, at the age of 68.

He was born on November 26, 1955 in Marion, Illinois to Herman "Bill" and Anna Kathleen (Bratcher) Francis.

Dan is survived by his brothers; David (Martha) Francis, Bruce (Beth) Francis, Tim (Roberta) Francis, and John (Susie) Francis; sister-in-law, Julie (Nannie) Francis; as well as his sister Alice (John) Rowan. He is also survived by his sons Benjamin (Emalee) Francis, Jacob (Leigh) Francis, Paul Francis; and two grandchildren, Ava and Madelyn Francis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Kay Francis; wife, Andrea Francis; and one brother, Michael Francis.

Dan was a multifaceted person; a carpenter and contractor by trade, he loved working with his hands. He liked to "tinker" with electronics and small engine equipment. He was also a pretty good songwriter, but was too private to share many of them. With his many talents and interests, he often referred to himself as the family's "mad scientist." He was truly loved and respected by friends and family and will be sorely missed.

Memorial services will be scheduled for Dan and his wife, Andrea, at a later date. For those who would like to attend, you can leave an email at stormburner2@gmail.com and you will be contacted as to the date and location of the memorial service.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for those who wish to do so.
