April 28, 1960 — January 17, 2026

DESOTO - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Molina, who departed this life on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the age of 65. David was born on April 28, 1960, in Port Arthur, Texas to Candido and Josephine (Martinez) Molina. He married Melissa Ray on April 28, 2007 in Carbondale. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, whose life was marked by creativity, compassion, and a relentless curiosity for the world around him.

David was a dedicated student who pursued his dream of becoming a paramedic, though an injury prevented him from completing his training. Despite this setback, he found joy and purpose in his work at Radio Shack, where he shared his passion for technology and helped countless customers. An avid tinkerer, he was skilled at working with computers and shared that skill with his wife Melissa who went on to get a degree in computers.

In addition to his technical interests, David was a talented musician who played guitar and composed his own songs, often drawing inspiration from the world around him. He also enjoyed painting, finding inspiration in the works of Bob Ross, and took great pleasure in creating beautiful landscapes that reflected his appreciation for nature. David had a passion for cooking, especially tamales and was particularly renowned for his baking. His cakes adorned the tables at many family celebrations, and he delighted in creating special treats for his loved ones. Whether it was a birthday, holiday, or just a family gathering, David's dishes brought joy and sweetness to every occasion. David was known for his unwavering commitment to his family and friends, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a warm smile. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

David is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Ray-Molina; son, Brandon Howell; daughter, Brenda Gannon; five grandchildren; four sisters; two brothers; mother-in-law, Julie Ray; brother-in-law, Dean (Rose) Ray; sister-in-law, Sheila Ray; several nieces and nephews; and his cherished caretakers, Kiaundra Clark, Nicole Harris, Shawna Bradley and Jenn Collins. His genuine spirit and compassionate nature made a lasting impact on everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by his children; one grandchild; parents; and father-in-law, Gary Dean Ray.

Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of David's Life will take place from 5:00 until 8:30 pm on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the DeSoto City Hall. Family and friends are encouraged to dress casually as everyone gathers to pay tribute to a remarkable man who touched the lives of many.
