CARBONDALE - Donald Troy Barrett, 68, beloved husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, and brother departed this life on July 15, 2025. He graduated from Carbondale Community High School, John A. Logan College, and Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Don dedicated his life to service, laughter, and love. A proud police detective, graduating second in his police academy class, he served his community with honor and integrity for many years. He shaped the lives of the future generation of police officers as an instructor at John A. Logan College. Don was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Nothing brought him more joy than time spent with his family. He had a gift for making people laugh, his quick wit and warm heart left a lasting impression with everyone he met.
He was a friend, a mentor, and a protector. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the laughter he brought to those who knew him.
