Donald Lee Watson, 87, of rural Williamson County, IL, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on April 14, 2021, following a battle with Alzheimer's. His faith, his loving family, and their firm belief in God supported them all through this heartbreaking time.
Donald was born to Fred and Reba Watson on July 20, 1933 in Williamson County, IL.
Donald served his country in the United States Army from 1953 - 1955, during the time of the Korean War. He was stationed at Ft. Ord in CA, at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, NM, and at Holloman A.F.B near Alamogordo, NM. Donald and Lois were married on June 16, 1961. He spent his entire life farming, which he greatly enjoyed. His faith, family, and farming were his life.
Donald is survived by his wife, Lois; his daughter, Julia (Glenn) McGee; his son Lee (Tammy) Watson; his grandchildren, Caleb McGee, Nathan (Lacey) McGee, and Paige Watson; his sisters Helen (Bill) Cox, and Marilyn Otey; his sister-in-law Kathy Watson, sister-in-law Doris Ferguson, and several nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Eugene Watson, his brother-in-law Arthur Otey, and his brother-in-law Harold Ferguson.
There will be a graveside service with military rites at Oakland Cemetery, Carbondale, IL, on Monday, April 19, at 11:00 am. Rev Todd Greiner is officiating.
