Dr. Steven P. Barrett

CARBONDALE - Dr. Steven P. Barrett, 55, son of James and Ann Storme-Barrett, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, May 11th, 2024. 

Dr. Barrett graduated Palmer Chiropractic College in 1995. He owned his business, Simple Chiropractic, alongside his wife, Rhonda Barrett, in Carbondale for 28 years. He was incredibly passionate about serving his patients. His goal was to improve their health, relieve their pain, and during those years his practice reached thousands of people. His favorite way to spend his free time was with his family, grandkids, and golfing. 

He passed after a short battle with an aggressive cancer but with a strong faith and belief in Jesus Christ, and was at peace with his diagnosis. 

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Barrett; son and daughters, Colton Parker, Haley Barrett, and Callie (Landon) Childers; grandchildren, Chandler Parker and Rolan Bates; parents, James and Ann Storme-Barrett; and niece, Britney Barrett. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Barrett. 

There will be a memorial service at 11:30am on Saturday, May 18th at the Vine Church in Carbondale, Illinois. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:30am with the funeral to follow. Golf attire is encouraged.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the church.
