Carbondale - Eleanor A. Kula, 94, passed away peacefully at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Carbondale's Century Assisted Living with her loving family at her side. The compassionate care she received from the staff at Century will always be remembered. A private entombment was held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Resurrection Garden Mausoleum in Justice. Eleanor was born February 22, 1920 in Swiecany, Poland to Joseph and Anna (Sychta) Wenc. She married the love of her life, Walter C. Kula, in 1946 upon his return from WWII. Eleanor is survived by her son, James (Sandra) Kula; daughter, Janice (Gary) Austin; grandson, Robert (Kelly) Kula; and great granddaughters, Alexandra and Addison. She was preceded in death by her brother, John and his wife Josephine. Eleanor was of Catholic faith, and had been a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Palos Hills. She was a loving aunt, godmother and special friend to many, and will be greatly missed. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to the Donor's Choice, and will be accepted by Meredith Funeral Home, 300 S University Ave, Carbondale, IL 62901.
