Erma "Jerry" Ellett

Carbondale - Erma "Jerry" Ellett, 92, passed away at 12:00 p.m. on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Integrity Health Care of Carbondale, surrounded by her loving family.



Jerry was born on February 3, 1925 in Bush, Illinois to John E. and Zella (Taylor) Mitchell. She married Charles R. "C.R." Ellett on May 17, 1956 in Corinth, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2001.



Jerry is survived by her sons, Paul (Sharon) Roberts of Carterville and Rick (Micki) Ellett of Cambria; daughter, Erma Lucille Burke of Murphysboro; six grandchildren, Jarod Roberts, Rhett Ellett, Ashton Ellett, Debra K. Carruth, Michael Burke and Mark Burke; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.



She is preceded in death by her brothers Norman, Edward Mitchell, and Jim Kiefer; sisters, Loraine Corbin and Charlene Todd; grand-daughter Lisa Burke; and great-grandson William Carruth.



Jerry worked for over 25 years as a service representative for the General Telephone Company until she retired in February of 1980. She was a member of New Life Church in Carbondale and a member of the Illinois Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).



Services for Jerry will be at 11:00 am Thursday, April 20th at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale with Rev. Danny Boyd and Pastor Jason Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19th at the funeral home. There will also be time for visitation from 10am until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.



Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to the New Life Church, Carbondale, IL and will be accepted at the funeral home.
