Ethan James Baker

Carbondale - Ethan James Baker was born on May 11, 1997 to Douglas and Amy (Koontz) Baker. He met his lord Jesus on May 7, 2016. There to greet him were his grandfather’s Robert William Baker and Howard Eugene Koontz, and cousins Kyle Peterson and Justin Baker.



He is survived and greatly missed by his parents, Douglas James and Amy Jo Baker; siblings, Hannah Jo and Samuel Joseph Baker; girlfriend, Olivia Graff; grandmothers, Corinne Baker and Nancy Koontz; uncles and aunts, Kevin and Anne Baker (Adam and Rachel), Randy and Jo Ann Baker (Kiley, Jodi, and Lindsey), Lori and Karen Bauman (Grace), Brice and Lisa Baker (Leann and Melanie), Rick and Julie Warner (Aaron and Adam), Gregg and Lou Ann Manske (Jordan), Dave and Carolyn Peterson (Nicole and Tyler), Todd and Inga Koontz (Cody and Mica), Cathy Koontz, as well as many friends.



Ethan was a recent graduate of Carbondale Community High School. He was attending John A. Logan College, was enrolled at S.I.U. and planned to attend the College of Dentistry at the University of Nebraska. He loved car racing and was actively involved in two local car clubs, Domestic Disturbance and Southern Illinois Imports. Ethan also loved his pets, a dachshund named Peanut, a pit bull terrier named Krueger and a cat named Sox. He was a friend to all who met him and will be forever missed.



A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. in First United Methodist Church of Carbondale with Reverend Alan Rhein and Reverend Tom Byford officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church.



Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to St. Francis Care Animal Shelter. Memorials will be accepted at the church or funeral home.
