Carterville – Harriette “Bea” Phillips, 70, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016 in Herrin Hospital with her family by her side.



Bea was born on May 3, 1946 to Herbert William and Harriet Lorraine (Jordan) Gould. She married John Phillips and he preceded her in death in 1997.



Bea is survived by one son, Alex Phillips of St. Peter, MN; two daughters, Amy Sellers of Del City, OK, and Sara Sellers (James Burrow) of Murphysboro; sister, Sharon Copple of Midwest City, OK; two grandchildren, Joey Burrow and Andrea Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.



She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, and one brother, Wesley Gould.



Bea was a member of the Art Colony that meets at the Carbondale Unitarian Fellowship. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and going to the movies with her grandson Joey. Bea also enjoyed spending time with her friends at the bookstore, quilting, making cards, and traveling.



Services for Bea will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Carbondale with Pastor Janice West officiating. Burial will follow in Hiller Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale.



Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Hiller Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
