CARBONDALE - Irmalee Alta Smith, age 88, peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.

Funeral Services for Alta will be at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at the Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Pastor Mark Sims officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Dongola. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
