CARBONDALE - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jeffery Clay Cannon, who passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the age of 49. Born on April 27, 1977 to Joseph Cannon Sr. and Vicki Piquard, Jeff lived a life filled with passion, service, and love, leaving a lasting mark on all who knew him.

A proud resident of Carbondale, Illinois, Jeff devoted over 20 years of his life to Larry's Towing, where he was more than just a tow truck driver; he was a dependable presence in the local communities. His commitment extended beyond his profession as he was also an active member of the Carbondale Emergency Management Agency, demonstrating his dedication to the safety and well-being of others.

Jeff was a man of many interests. He found joy in the simplicity of fishing, the excitement of watching races, and the creativity of building Legos—activities that reflected his playful spirit and love for the outdoors. Most importantly, he cherished time spent with his family. He is survived by his loving sister, Rebecca Lynn Cannon of Carbondale; and uncles, Charles “Butch” Piquard and Danny (Debbie) Piquard and many cousins and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents and brother, Joey Cannon.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 1:00pm on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale. Graveside services will immediately follow at Blairsville Cemetery with Pastor Andrew Mifflin officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to assist with cemetery expenses in care of Becky Cannon and will be accepted at the funeral home.
