CARBONDALE – Joann Louise Diedrick, 88, of Carbondale, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale surrounded by her family.
Joann was born on August 17, 1931 to Charles and Marie (Kish) Ellis in Shawneetown.
Joann was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale. She worked at the Bank of Carbondale for over 38 years. When she retired in 2010 she was serving as Vice President of the loan department. Joann enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by her sons, Douglas Alan Diedrick and wife Sandy and Mark Ellis Diedrick and wife Pam all of Carbondale; brother, Ronald and wife Amy Ellis of Maryland; grandchildren, Brian (Jessica) Diedrick, Laura (Curtis) Hubbard, Sara Ollech, Brad Diedrick (Abbie Wesley), Lindsey Diedrick, Robert Burke, Karla (Shea) Baker and Matthew Burke; great-grandchildren, Lucas Burke, Caybren Hubbard, Curtis Hubbard, Norah Baker, Jack Baker, Simone Diedrick, Dorothy Diedrick, Rylee Wright, Liam Diedrick, and Zoë Diedrick; several nieces and nephews.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Alan Ellis and sister, Rita Hays.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
The family would like to thank the staff at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale and Hospice of Southern Illinois for their compassionate care. The family would also like to thank River to River Assisted Care, Fairview Nursing and Rehab and Integrity Nursing and Rehab for their care during her time at these locations.
