John Monroe Fulmer

CAMBRIA - John Monroe Fulmer, age 75, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

John was born on July 14, 1949 in Carbondale to Frank and Harriett (Ketring) Fulmer, Jr. John married Donna Stearns on December 22, 1982 in Carbondale.

John was a proud veteran of the United States Army, whose service instilled in him values of dedication and commitment that resonated throughout his life. He spent many years as a driver for West Bus Service and also worked for Jacobs and Crabtree Optometrist as an Optical Technician in Carbondale for over twenty years.

An avid enthusiast, John found joy in fishing, firearms, and shooting, hobbies that brought him peace and fulfillment. He cherished spending time outdoors and reveled in flying, a passion that reflected his love for adventure. Above all, John treasured watching his children and grandchildren grow, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

John is survived by his loving wife, Donna Fulmer of Cambria; sons, Shawn Fulmer of DeSoto, Bryan Fulmer of Marion and Ted Walsh, Jr. and wife, Brandy of Freeman Spur; daughter, Montana Fulmer Duty of Carbondale; sister, Alesia Fulmer Lipe of DeSoto; granddaughters, Chyanne, Ciara, Katlynn, Emma, Makenlee, Catilin and Taylor; grandsons, William, Madox, Austin, Landon, Caleb, Tyler and Brantley; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Travis Fulmer; and sister, Kathy Fulmer.

Graveside services with Military Honors for John will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale with Pastor Andy Cunningham officiating.

Memorials may be made to the family to help with expenses and will be accepted at the cemetery.
