Joshua Clint Holder

MARION- Joshua Clint Holder, a cherished soul who brought warmth and laughter to all who knew him, passed away unexpectedly on August 31, 2026, at the age of 42. Born on February 25, 1984, in Carbondale, Illinois, Josh lived a life marked by service, love, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.  

Josh was the beloved son of Larry and Cheryl Holder, who have since passed, along with his sister, Randi Jo Holder, and many other cherished family members. His childhood in Carbondale was filled with happy memories and adventures shared with his twin brother, Jason, and sisters, Jennifer and Randi. After graduating from Carbondale Community High School in 2002, Josh answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Army.  

During his military career, Josh served with distinction and bravery for almost 10 years. Stationed in Iraq, he took part in the invasion and played a crucial role in establishing law and order in Baghdad following the fall. His efforts included setting up and manning the Iraqi police station and conducting over 150 combat patrols. For his valor and commitment, Josh was awarded the Combat Action Badge. His dedication to his country and fellow soldiers will forever be remembered. We extend our deepest gratitude to Josh for his service.  

He is survived by his twin brother, Jason (Amber) Holder, and sister, Jennifer (Dell) Berry, along with Mathew Legendre. His legacy continues through his nieces and nephews: Mickallie (Jarrett) Berry, DJ Berry, Bailey Berry, Jaidyn Berry (Chayce), Braylon, Deon, Jordyn, and Keegan Berry, and Allen Jay and Gracie Mae Legendre. Josh was also a proud great uncle to Brandon and Blake Berry-Roseman and Liddell "3" Berry. His uncles, Gene Peterman (Cambria) and Michael Holder (Cambria), as well as a host of cousins and friends, will miss his vibrant presence. Josh's life was also enriched by his beloved fur babies, Roxy 2, Weenie, and Mr. Butters, who provided him with companionship and joy. 

A celebration of life will be held at a later time to honor Josh's life. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in recognition of Josh's service and sacrifice.  

Josh's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His courage, humor, and kindness touched the lives of many, and his spirit will live on through the stories and memories shared by his family and friends.
