Joyce Yvonne Braswell

CARBONDALE – Joyce Yvonne Braswell, 91, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at her home.

   Joyce was born on November 8, 1934 to Ford and Juanita (Phelps) Frick in Anna. She married Marvin Lee Braswell on June 30, 1951 in Murphysboro. They celebrated 75 years of union.

   Joyce is survived by her husband Marvin, children Linda Marty, Kerry Braswell, Lisa (Pieter) Schmidt, and David Braswell; grandchildren, Amanda (Trevor) Gruber, Cheyenne Braswell, Colton Braswell, Colin Schmidt, Hannah Schmidt, Kelsey Schmidt, Haley Schmidt, Andrew Braswell, Lauren Braswell, and Emma Braswell; great-grandchildren Rowan Jeffrey Gruber, and Eli Braswell Schmidt.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ronald Frick and Ford Frick; and son-in-law Jeffrey Marty.

   Joyce was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and gardening. She adored all animals and babies. She was very witty, and always loved sharing a good laugh. Joyce shared countless memories of all their travels.

   A private Graveside Service for Joyce will be held at Boskydell Cemetery.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
