Juanita Fae Porter, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Deaconess Heartland Hospital in Marion.

 Juanita was born on July 2, 1933 in East Alton, IL to Walter “Pop” and Nellie (Stanley) Satterfield. Juanita married Kenneth Porter on October 29, 1965 in Du Quoin. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2004.

 Juanita worked at the Du Quoin District 300 Superintendent’s Office as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk for 31 years. She was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin. Juanita loved watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball games, birdwatching, doing jigsaw puzzles, a mean game of dominoes or Uno, but most of all being with family and friends and making new friends wherever she went. 

 Juanita is survived by her daughters, Cathy (Gene) Moehring of Cobden, Amy James of Du Quoin, IL, and Lou Anne Lehman of Du Quoin, IL; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews who she thought of as “her kids”.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Porter; parents; and five siblings, Robert Satterfield, Walter Satterfield, Louise Galloway, Ruby Brock and Gene Satterfield.

 A Celebration of Juanita's Life will be held the afternoon of Saturday, April 12, 2025 at The W Restaurant, 7230 West Main Street in Du Quoin.

 Memorials may be made in Juanita’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
