Karla Klueter

Karla Klueter, age 71, passed away on May 5, 2025 at Cobden Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Cobden, IL.

Karla was born on March 7, 1954 in Urbana, IL and was adopted by Vernon Klueter and Eunice (Knoche) Klueter.

Karla is survived by her brother, Kenneth (Ann) Klueter of Marieta, GA, and her sister, Kimberly (Edward) Morzak of Canton, TX, as well as two nieces and a nephew and six great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Eunice Klueter.

Throughout the years, Karla worked many jobs aimed at improving others' lives. She worked with adults suffering from traumatic brain injuries, was a recreational therapist and activities coordinator for many organizations and was an arthritis aquatics instructor for John A. Logan College in Carbondale. She was also a two-time cancer survivor.

Karla was an avid cyclist who rode for both sport and recreation. Her biggest cycling accomplishment was participating in the AXA World Ride across the US in the fall of 1995, where she rode 968 miles from St. Louis to Washington DC.

Most of all, Karla was a nature lover. She spent as much time outdoors as possible, living in a small house tucked in the woods where she would spend hours hiking and enjoying the wildlife, creating her own little oasis where she spent her happiest times. She was joined by the many animals that she rescued throughout the years who became her closest companions. She also dabbled in various forms of art that reflected her love of nature.

Karla was a loving spirit and fiercely loyal friend who is now running free with her fur babies. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

There will be a private celebration of life for family and close friends.

Memorials may be made in Karla's name to Save Them All Animal Rescue, Wright Way Rescue or the Sierra Club Illinois Chapter.
