GRAND TOWER – Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Mezo, 79, of Grand Tower, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at home.
Kenny was born in Grand Tower on March 18, 1942 to Albert and Nora (Taylor) Mezo. He married Brenda Gulley on July 21, 2000 in Grand Tower.
Kenny served his county in the U.S. Airforce from 1962 until 1966. He went on to work at the Grand Tower Power Station for 30 years. He also owned and operated the Veach and Texaco filling stations in Grand Tower and the Ken Mezo Body Shop. Kenny served the township of Grand Tower as Mayor Township Road Commissioner for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; children, Scott (Robbin) Mezo, Bradley Wayne Mezo (Debbie Fowler), Sherry (Kevin) Ellet, Tracy (Misty) Mezo; step-children, Crystal (Bernard) Oertlin, Darrell Wheeler (fiancé Amy Ford) and AAron (Cassie) Gilkey; grandchildren, Brandon, Myra, Braden, Jessi, and Jenni Mezo; step-grandchildren, Ian Michael Oertlin, Dylan, Zach, Caleb, and Joshua Wheeler and Gwen Gilkey; great-grandchildren, Kai, Cain, Niko, and Ezra Mezo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Herman, Sherman, Russell, Ralph, Eugene, and June.
Services for Kenny will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Grand Tower United Methodist Church with Pastor Richard Pyatt officiating. Burial will follow in Walker Hill Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the church.
