ELKVILLE - Leona Nadine Lacy, beloved mother, grandmother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the age of 87 in Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Nadine was born on January 24, 1938, in Cobden, Illinois, to David and Kathleen (Johnson) Wright. She married Charles E. Lacy, Sr. on May 22, 1954, in Cobden. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2005. 

Her family was the center of her world, and she loved them fiercely, always placing their needs above her own. Known for her selflessness, Nadine had a remarkable ability to see the good in everyone, making a friend of everyone she encountered. Her warm spirit and infectious smile brightened the lives of all who knew her. 

She had a passion for shopping, always on the lookout for a bargain, and her love for life was evident in everything she did. Nadine is remembered as a woman who loved to cook, play cards, play the keyboard, watch westerns, and raise plants and flowers. She was known for her famous pancakes that she would make for the grandkids. 

Left to carry on her memory and spirit are her three daughters, Nancy (Michael) Aldridge, Julie (Kevin) Hicks, Donna (Roger) Waller, and 10 grandchildren, Keith (Shelly) Aldridge, Kelly (Jesse) Wisely, Travis (Kirsten) Hicks, Nichole (Nigel) Sewell, Samantha (Jordan) Bowlby, Jake (Carlie) Hicks, India Marsh (John Johnson), Lacy (Brandon) Brookman, and Nolan Waller. Twenty-two great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, three sisters, Gail (Lawence) George, Linda (Jack) Farris, Myrna Gregg, one brother Ed Wright, brothers-in-law Mike Wisely, Tom Ridings, Gary (Meri) Lacy, Galen Long, sister-in-law Linda Wright, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lacy, Sr,; parents; son, Charles Lacy, Jr., granddaughter Amber Dare, three sisters Nancy Wright, Pat Ridings, Marsha Wisely, brother Mike Wright, sister-in-laws Verna Long and Betty Odum, and brother-in-laws Dennis Gregg and James Lacy.

Funeral services for Nadine will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Elkville Christian Church with Pastor Gary Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in Makanda Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at the Elkville Christian Church and on Wednesday from 9:00 am until the time of service.

Memorials may be made in Nadine’s name to Elkville Christian Church or Makanda Evergreen Cemetery and will be accepted at the church.
