Maria Lourdes Scarborough

ENERGY – Maria Lourdes Scarborough, 84, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale in Carbondale, Illinois.

Maria was born on February 14, 1941, to Roman and Gregoria (Gabac) Mabanan in the Philippines. She married Charles L. Scarborough on July 11, 1969, in Angeles City, Philippines.

Maria is survived by her husband, Charles; daughters Betty (Ron) Clymer of Oklahoma City, OK; Leslie (Christopher) Hanson; son Charles (fiancee Sheena Brooks) of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter Sherry (Mark) Baumgartner of Victorville, CA; grandson Ron Clymer, granddaughter Alesa Johnson (Beau) and John Clymer (Nikki), all of Oklahoma City, OK; Christopher Hanson and Ariana Hanson of Herrin, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Maria was originally from Samar, Philippines. She and her daughter Betty later moved to Angeles City, where she met and married Charles. She was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. For over 30 years, they made their home in Highland, California, making friends and lasting memories before moving to southern Illinois. Maria was a mother to many, making their home welcoming to everyone. She will be sorely missed.

Funeral services and burial will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
